National Poetry Month Challenge

You've probably heard of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. Poets.org has adapted the challenge for poets, who are encouraged to write a poem a day during the month of April and post them on their blogs or on the NaPoWritMo website. It's a hefty challenge, but I'm going to try it. Anybody else game? Feel free to share your poems here if you'd like. Or put a link to your blog in the comments area. I'd love to have some company.

Now I just have to write that first poem......(no cheating and using old stuff.)

  1. A poem a day?
    Gosh-- I only write haiku.
    They are short but sweet!

  4. Ok, I wrote a limerick today because another blogger was trying to rhyme things with "Dimitri":

There once was a man named Dimitri,
    Whose conversation revolved around pleasantry.
    His demeanor, amicable...
    His manners, impeccable!
A true gentleman of the bourgeoisie.

  5. I'm a bad poet.
    Didn't notice the haiku.
    I feel so foolish.

  6. I never would have thought to rhyme Dimitri with bourgeoisie. Brilliant.

    Here's my limerick.

There once was a poet named Carol
who found herself over a barrel.
    Though she tried and tried
    her brain was just fried,
And her poem a day was in peril.
